En cuanto a carnes y pescados, no se consumen todos los tipos de carne debido especialmente a la cultura religiosa, así pues, es típico encontrar carnes de animales menos tradicionales respecto a la cocina occidental, como las ranas, los insectos, las larvas, etc. En cambio, los tipos de pescados utilizados son parecidos a los de la gastronomía occidental: salmón, atún y gambas principalmente.
Por último, el uso de especias es muy frecuente en la cocina india e indonesia, donde curry, cardamomo y canela suelen protagonizar la mayoría de los platos.
Aunque no se trate de ingredientes, también cabe destacar que en la tradición oriental es común utilizar diferentes tipos de utensilios, tanto para cocinar como para comer los deliciosos platos de esta cultura.
